Adorned with a shimmery lustre, over the years and throughout many different cultures, Pearls have long symbolised purity, wisdom, and wealth.
In Ancient Rome, Pearls were considered so valuable that they were often reserved for the upper-class, where sumptuary laws restricted their use for nobility. Similarly in many other ancient cultures, these stones were also used to signify wealth and power and worn only by royalty.
In art and literature, Pearls are often associated with the birth of Venus, the Goddess of love, depicted emerging from the sea on a shell, often surrounded by Pearls.
