Uses Throughout History

Adorned with a shimmery lustre, over the years and throughout many different cultures, Pearls have long symbolised purity, wisdom, and wealth.

In Ancient Rome, Pearls were considered so valuable that they were often reserved for the upper-class, where sumptuary laws restricted their use for nobility. Similarly in many other ancient cultures, these stones were also used to signify wealth and power and worn only by royalty.

In art and literature, Pearls are often associated with the birth of Venus, the Goddess of love, depicted emerging from the sea on a shell, often surrounded by Pearls.

Folklore & Magick

Mythology, celestial connections and love

In many cultures, Pearls are believed to be the tears of gods or mythical beings like mermaids or nymphs. They have also been considered by others as teardrops of the moon and items of wisdom.

In ancient Asia, they have been seen as evidence of divine presence, often representing the soul's journey toward perfection and enlightenment.

Believed to have a calming effect, Pearls are said to help balance Gemini's energetic and sometimes restless nature.

Perfect for gifting loved ones or as a reminder of balance and wisdom, Pearls can be worn in so many different ways. Have a look at all our Pearl jewellery below!
