In Burma, as an act of power and strength, legends say some warriors embedded the deep red stones into their skin, trusting the gemstone to grant invincibility in battle.
Similarly, in medieval Europe, Rubies were worn by royalty and nobility not only as markers of wealth and influence but also as protective talismans said to warn of impending danger by darkening in colour.
